The City of Beacon has been at the forefront of local climate action. Earlier this year, Beacon passed a local version of New York’s Electric Buildings Act, which effectively bans gas hook ups in new construction and major renovations. This win was the result of a successful organizing campaign from a local grassroots group, Beacon Climate Action Now (BCAN).
Join us for our next Morning Coffee webinar on Tuesday, October 17th at 8:30 am to learn how community organizing can inspire local governments to take action, with examples from one forward-looking municipality in the Hudson Valley. BCAN members will share their story with tips on how to organize and leverage local legislation to move New York forward. We’ll also hear how one commercial building owner decided to take steps to decarbonize his studio building across the river in Newburgh.
