PollinateHV local ecotype collection launches

Partners for Climate Action and our partners at the Hudson Valley Seed Company are thrilled to announce the launch of the first seeds in the PollinateHV local ecotype collection, now available to purchase at bit.ly/polhv

This exciting collaboration, underway since 2022, began with the selection of 19 easy-to-grow, beautiful native flower species from the PollinateHV Plant List. Our partner Tiny Meadow Farm identified local wild populations of each species in the Hudson Valley bioregion and coordinated seed collection. The next step was growing those wild seeds into plants, which were then planted in “founder plots” at the Hudson Valley Seed Company’s Ulster County farm.

The first perennial founder plots have reached maturity and are producing seed for gardeners throughout the region to grow their very own pollinator-friendly native plants. Great Blue Lobelia and Purplestem Aster are available now for fall or spring sowing, with many more pollinator powerhouse species to follow.
