Recap: PCA Climate Mixer In Kingston

Hundreds of climate activists celebrated Hudson Valley Climate Solutions Week with PCA at our annual Climate Mixer on September 19 in Kingston. The Hutton Brickyards once again served as the setting for a perfect night of warm weather by the Hudson, good food and drink, and the excitement of convening with “fellow travelers” in the field of climate action.

Ulster County Executive and PCA advisor Jen Metzger kicked off the evening by encouraging activists to get out the vote this season. This was followed by words of welcome from co-founder Bob Dandrew and then program manager Avalon Bunge’s rousing update on PCA’s ecological restoration grants and new line of local ecotype seed. The crowd then split into  discussion groups according to their respective interests in a variety of fields, from climate education to building decarbonization to regenerative agriculture and businesses.

We send our thanks to the folks Hudson Valley Seed Company for their partnership and display of the local ecotype seeds that they produced in collaboration with us. We are also grateful to the staff of Vassar College’s “Tempestry” program, who brought their living examples of art as social action, and to For the Many for staffing a voter registration and information desk at the event.

And special kudos to volunteer Noah Coleman, who spent weeks planning and executing this wonderful event. We can’t wait for next year!”
